Candle Cloth Story for St Paul's United Church of Christ in Sellersville

General Synod Candle Cloth Project

Immersed in Prayer – a Covenant of Prayer Partnerships

St. Paul’s UCC is involved in a special Covenant of Prayer opportunity that will take place at the General Synod 2009 in June.  Along with all other churches attending the Synod, we have created a quilted, fabric candle cloth that will be displayed during General Synod. Each minister or delegate will receive a candle cloth from another local congregation to take home to their congregation, creating a prayer partnership with the sister congregation for the next year.
Each candle cloth includes a prayer on the back – St. Paul’s was woven into a single prayer by pastor Patti from the contributions of each Candle Cloth Ministry member.  A booklet with the prayer created by each candle cloth ministry will be compiled and given to each congregation at Synod.  Read our prayer below.

Special thanks to the volunteers

St. Paul's Candle Cloth Prayer

Loving God, You created us for fellowship with you. We are designed to walk with You and delight in Your ways. O God, help us to know what is the right path for out life’s journey. Give us faith in Your saving power. Gift us with peace, strength, and hope as we follow Your path. Open our hearts and minds; let our souls be filled with Your comfort. Let us truly see that Your compassion is our path to follow. Gift us with the courage to trust completely in You, lest we forget that with You all things are indeed possible.
Bless us, O gracious God, and fill our hearts, thought, and prayers with the love of your Son, Jesus, so we may share what we have learned with others. Open our eyes to see new opportunities to give of ourselves so His Light might shine throughout the world.
As the candle shines brightly upon your faces, may mat it remind you of the Light of the Lord which is always upon us. As you walk in the light, may His grace always be with you.

Amen
